We are seeking a motivated and outstanding individual to join our Alcediag research and early discovery group as a Postdoctoral Fellow. The selected candidate will work within an interdisciplinary and innovative research team to explore the use of RNA editing modifications as potential diagnostics in mental health. To be successful in this role will require creative thinking. Also, the ability to work independently to conceptualize, implement, and meticulously carry out experiments. The successful candidate must also have a desire to learn the skills they do not possess (with support) to make the most of the opportunity.
This postdoctoral position will provide the candidate with a well-resourced industry environment where they can accelerate the pace of their science and produce original research for high impact publications. The postdoc will gain extensive experience in RNA editing, molecular biology assays, cellular disease modeling, and functional genomics. This position will be highly interdisciplinary and require close collaboration with various other departments at Alcediag such as bioinformatics, biostatistics.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The postdoc will be working with a group of biologists, bioinformaticians and biostatisticians to:
- Design and execute molecular biology/blood and /or cell-based experiments
- Analyze and interpret results, and present at internal meetings and scientific conferences
- Writing original research manuscripts for scientific publication(s)
REQUIREMENTS:
- A Ph.D. degree in the life sciences (ex: molecular biology, neuroscience, etc.) or D. degree
- Strong research track record as demonstrated by quality publications or patents
- Strong knowledge in neuroscience
- Essential laboratory skills including molecular biology, nucleic acid biochemistry, DNA/RNA, and protein analysis (ex: qPCR, ddPCR), tissue culture etc..
- Knowledge and experience with functional genomics techniques (ex: RNA-seq, ChIP-seq) and programming in R/Python or similar object-oriented programming
- The successful candidate must be a fast learner with strong organizational, written, and verbal skills, and possess the ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
